Wherever possible, swap these out for reusable or compostable alternatives. We already mentioned using a reusable filter instead of paper. Similarly, if you use a single-serve pod machine, consider switching to a reusable pod (filled with your own ground coffee) or transitioning to a different brew method to avoid those plastic capsules entirely. And when it comes to coffee on the go, those disposable cups are a major waste culprit – billions end up in landfills each year, and most aren’t recyclable due to plastic linings. Make it a habit to carry your own insulated coffee tumbler or mug. Many coffee shops will happily fill it for you. By ditching disposables, you prevent a lot of paper and plastic waste from ever being created.
